International Superstar Donnie Yen Stars in the High-Octane Drama

Debuting on Blu-ray & DVD May 13th

Bonus Materials Includes a Making-of Featurette

The cops can’t control him. The mob wants him dead. And time is running out. Legendary action icon Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Hero) returns to contemporary MMA films as a deep undercover police officer in the action-packed mob drama SPECIAL ID, debuting on Blu-ray and DVD May 13th from Well Go USA Entertainment. Yen takes on the role of “Dragon” Chen, a Hong Kong undercover police officer deep within the ranks of one of China’s most ruthless underworld gangs. The leader of the gang, Xiong (Collin Chou), has made it his priority to weed out the government infiltrators in his midst. Struggling to keep his family together and his identity concealed, Chen is torn between two worlds. Upping the stakes, as Chen’s undercover comrades are being dealt with, one by one, Chen fears his days are numbered. Now, he must risk everything to take down the organization and reclaim the life he lost when he took on this perilous assignment. In addition to Yen and Chou (The Matrix trilogy, Badges of Fury), SPECIAL ID also stars Tian Jing (Police Story 2013) and Hanyu Zhang (Back to 1942, White Vengeance) under the direction of Clarence Fok Yiu-leung (Snakeheads, Together).  Bonus materials include a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Synopsis:

Donnie Yen is Detective Chen Zilong – but the criminal underworld knows him as “Dragon” Chen, a dangerous but effective enforcer. When rivalries explode with the reappearance of an old enemy and a brutal murder, the Triads close ranks and unleash a series of executions – with Chen at the top of the list.  Undercover and under attack, he has no choice but to rely on a new partner (Jing Tian) and his knowledge of the streets to get out alive. It’s the only chance he’s got.

SPECIAL ID has a runtime of approximately 99 minutes and is not rated.

Gonna have to go with SPL. It was the film that made me recognize how much of a badass Donnie is.

I wanna say Iron Monkey but SPL was just a bit better, really enjoyed it.

  3.

Flash Point (导火线) starred by Donnie Yen, Louis Koo, Collin Chou, Xing Yu and Fan Bingbing. It just can’t get any better! Only SPL: Sha Po Lang is a very close second because of Sammo Hung and Wu Jing.

  4.

SPL. Donnie’s breaking point with a solid story, good acting, and great fights.

Awww man, tough one! I’d have to go for Highlander: Endgame.

Just kidding! My vote goes to In The Line of Duty 4. Possibly my first Donnie Yen movie (either this or Iron Monkey). Some great set pieces and action in here. Yes it’s a little dated now but it will always be remembered… as long as my HKL disc stays intact!

I am going to have to say Flash Point because I took a chance on it (having never seen one of his films) on Blu-Ray as a blind buy when it was released and I loved it. Have to mention Ip Man & Kill Zone – S.P.L. as well though, great movies.

Out of the ones I’ve seen, maybe Iron Monkey or Hero.
I’ve been meaning to see some of the other movies that were mentioned, though.

    Mismatched Couples is classic 80′s.
Ip Man, Wing Chun, Iron Monkey, and Wu Xia are all great.
