“The Assassin” on Blu-ray & DVD January 26th, 2016!

The Assassin is a 2015 Chinese martial arts film directed by Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. Reflecting on the film’s long shooting period and a much bigger budget than his previous films, Hou stated “I haven’t shot a movie in six or seven years. It’s really a whole new world for me because the market is now so big, because of China. So the scale is much bigger, and that makes every detail different, so now even I have to adjust my scale.” The street date is set for January 26th, 2016 on Blu-ray & DVD from Well Go USA.

Synopsis: 9th century China.10-year-old general’s daughter NieYinniang is abducted by a nun who initiates her into the martial arts,transforming her into an exceptional assassin charged with eliminating cruel and corrupt local governors. One day, having failed in a task,she is sent back by her mistress to the land of her birth, with orders to kill the man to whom she waspromised – a cousin who now leads the largest military region in NorthChina.
