Thai Martial Arts Legend Panna Rittikrai, Passes Away At Age 53

Very sad news to share as Thai media outlets are reporting that martial arts legend and the driving force behind Thai cinema emerging into the internation stage, Panna Rittikrai, has died due to complications from kidney and liver failure. An actor and martial arts choreographer, Rittikrai gained local fame in his country with his style of hard hitting and stunt driven action. Rittikrai would be instrumental in Thailand’s emergence as an action film powerhouse in recent years, his protege the action star Tony Jaa, making the leap to international stardom with his work in films such as Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong, for which Panna also choreographed. Out thoughts go out to the family and friends of Panna Rittikrai, as one of the pioneers of Thai cinema has left the world just a little bit dimmer. Thanks for all the memories and the bodily sacrifices you’ve made for your fans, it’s time to rest.
