Beautiful “The Tale of Iya” Trailers Revel in Simplicity and Delicate Moments

Wow. An absolutely stunning series of trailers has been released for what is now one of my most anticipated films of next year The Tale of Iya. Set amidst the beautiful rural scenery of Tokushima, Japan, the film follows a young girl and her grandfather living a self sufficient existence by drawing water themselves and obtaining their own food through gardening or hunting. When a stranger from the city arrives to town, he wants the simplicity of their life for himself so he sets out to follow their example. But things are changing in the small town of Iya and perhaps the idyllic existence of the town and its people cannot stop the progress of time. Making the rounds in film festivals currently, look for it in Japanese cinemas this February.

Starring: Rina Takeda, Shima Ohnishi, Min Tanaka, Hitoshi Murakami, Sachi Ishimaru, Christopher Pellegrini, Keisuke Yamamoto, Takahiro Ono, Reika Miwa, Ryu Morioka, Naomi Kawase, Ren Kido, Shigeru Kimura, Tomie Nishi, and Keiko Taoka
