New “Rurouni Kenshin” Trailer Showcases Action and an Extended Look at Shishio!

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming summer release of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Arc. Featuring some intense swordplay and finally a clearer look at film antagonist Shishio Makoto, played by Tatsuya Fujiwara, anticipation is at a high for the big budget adaptation. A sequel to the mega hit film from 2012 and based on the manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki, the series follows swordsman Kenshin Himura who fights villains in the new Meiji era despite his vow never to kill after carving out a bloody revolution as an assassin. Kenshin’s past comes back to haunt him when fellow swordsman and assassin Makoto Shishio reappears and threatens to upset the peace that Kenshin’s sword has brought.

    • I truly hope so, though we’ll have to see how it fares financially in Japan. The first film did make it to numerous US film festivals and conventions so even if doesn’t get to a cineplex, people will be able to see it.
